We understand that the wait for counselling can feel long — especially when you need someone to talk to right now. That’s why Sefton Support Group is introducing a new service for our members currently on the Counselling Waiting List: Listening Ear Sessions.
These sessions are a gentle, non-clinical way to help you feel heard, supported, and less alone during difficult times.
What is a Listening Ear Session?
Listening Ear is not counselling, therapy, or clinical support. Instead, it’s a safe, informal space where someone will simply be there to listen.
This means:
- No diagnosing
- No therapy techniques or treatment plans
- No pressure to fix problems
- No professional opinions
What We Do
Our Listening Ear sessions focus on being present and offering support in the moment. During a session, we:
- Listen with warmth, patience, and without judgement
- Give you space to speak freely, without pressure or interruption
- Help you feel heard by reflecting your words and emotions with care
- Support you to feel calmer and more grounded in the moment
- Encourage practical next steps, where appropriate
- Offer signposting to additional support services through Sefton Support Group if needed
It’s not about finding solutions — it’s about helping you feel less alone.
Session Details
- Session length: Up to 60 minutes
- Session day: Fridays (booked in advance)
This service is available to SSG members who are currently on our Counselling Waiting List. If you are waiting for counselling and feel you would benefit from a Listening Ear session, please speak to a member of our team.
Why We’re Offering This
At Sefton Support Group, we believe that being heard matters. While you wait for more structured support, our Listening Ear sessions offer a compassionate stepping stone — a reminder that someone is here, listening, and ready to support you.
If you have any questions or would like to know more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you for being part of the Sefton Support Group community.
