Grief is a deeply personal journey, but it doesn’t have to be walked alone. The Loved and Lost Shared Reading Group offers a safe and welcoming space for those who want to explore themes of bereavement and loss through literature. Meeting at Formby Library, this group brings people together to read and reflect on poetry and prose that help make sense of loss and healing.
What to Expect
Each session, group leaders will select and share texts aloud, encouraging gentle discussion. However, there is no pressure to read or speak—you are welcome to simply listen and reflect in your own way.
Some of the pieces we will explore include:
- Stone Trees by Jane Gardam
- Strong Enough to Help by David Constantine
- Grief by Matthew Dickman
- Starlings in Winter by Mary Oliver
These readings offer profound insights into grief, love, and resilience, helping us to navigate emotions that can be difficult to put into words.
