At the end of October, we will be welcoming our final Community Wellbeing Session of 2026 โ and it will also mark the end of a very special two years for this programme at Sefton Support Group. ๐
On Friday 30th October 2026 at 9.30am, we will welcome Justine Williams, CEO of Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton, to our Formby centre for our final session of the year.
It will also be our final Community Wellbeing Session supported through funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
Welcoming Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton
For our final session, Justine will introduce members and visitors to the work of Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton and the support the charity provides to older people across our local communities.
The session will explore the services available across Liverpool and Sefton, examples of the difference that support can make, the number of people being helped and the charity’s plans for the future.
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the support available for older people who want to remain independent, connected and informed.
The session is suitable not only for older people themselves, but also family members, carers, friends, volunteers, professionals and anyone interested in improving wellbeing and reducing isolation within our communities.
Two Fantastic Years at SSG
This session will be particularly significant for us because it brings to a close two fantastic years of Community Wellbeing Sessions supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.
Over that time, we have had the pleasure of welcoming a wide variety of charities, organisations, professionals and community groups through the doors of SSG.
Each has brought something different โ information, advice, lived experience, practical support and, importantly, the opportunity for our members to discover services and organisations they may never previously have known were available.
We have also welcomed many new visitors to the centre through these sessions, with a number going on to become SSG members and becoming part of our wider community.
That has always been an important part of what the Community Wellbeing Sessions were designed to achieve: bringing people together, sharing useful information and creating stronger connections between our community and the organisations there to support it.
Thank You to The National Lottery Community Fund
We would like to say a huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and National Lottery players for helping make these sessions possible.
The funding has allowed us to bring organisations and local people together at our centre over the past two years and create opportunities for people to learn, ask questions, meet others and discover additional sources of support.
Although this National Lottery Community Fund supported chapter of our Community Wellbeing Sessions is coming to an end, we very much hope the sessions themselves will continue in some capacity. SSG will be looking at how we may be able to support future sessions ourselves, where funding and resources allow.
Whatever comes next, the connections created through the programme will continue to be an important part of SSG and the support we provide.
