Sefton Support Group is pleased to continue welcoming Sefton Carers Centre to our centre in Formby for their regular drop-in sessions.
Following the first session, which took place in April, the drop-in will now continue every two months on the last Thursday of the month, giving unpaid carers the chance to access friendly advice, information and support in a welcoming community setting.
Supporting unpaid carers in Sefton
Sefton Carers Centre provides support for unpaid carers living in Sefton. A carer may be someone who looks after a family member, friend, neighbour or loved one who could not manage without their help due to illness, disability, mental health difficulties, addiction, age-related needs or other circumstances.
Many people provide care without always seeing themselves as a “carer”. They may simply feel they are doing what needs to be done for someone they love or support. However, caring for another person can be demanding, emotional and at times overwhelming, which is why having access to the right advice and support can make such a difference.
What can people ask about?
The drop-in sessions offer carers the opportunity to speak with Sefton Carers Centre in person and find out what support may be available.
This may include information around:
- Carers assessments
- Practical advice and guidance
- Emotional support
- Financial advice
- Respite and support options
- Training, courses and workshops
- Social sessions and activities
- Support for carers’ own wellbeing
Whether someone is new to a caring role, has been caring for many years, or is unsure what help they may be entitled to, the drop-in is a chance to ask questions in a relaxed and supportive environment.
