Sefton Support Group is pleased to announce five upcoming Community Wellbeing Sessions taking place at our centre in Formby.
Our free monthly sessions bring local charities, community organisations and knowledgeable guest speakers together with members of the community. Each session offers an opportunity to learn more about an important subject, discover available support and ask questions in a friendly and welcoming environment.
With topics ranging from local history and bereavement support to family wellbeing, estate planning and young people’s mental health, there is something for everyone in our forthcoming programme.
Doc and Doris – The Remarkable Chavasse Family
Thursday, 30th July 2026 at 9.30 AM
We begin with a special additional Community Wellbeing Session exploring the remarkable story of the Chavasse family, one of Liverpool’s most fascinating and influential families.
The session will look at the life and legacy of Captain Noel Chavasse, known as “Doc”, and his twin sister, Mary Chavasse, affectionately known as “Doris”.
Noel Chavasse was one of only three people to be awarded the Victoria Cross twice, while Doris dedicated much of her life to supporting others. Their story provides a fascinating insight into courage, compassion, service and an extraordinary Liverpool family.
